Texas Legal Update 3186

This is the Texas State & Federal Law Update #3186 course mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), which is offered in an online training format for Texas peace officers. This 2019-2021 Texas State & Federal Law Update #3186 course is designed to provide Texas peace officers with updates to state and federal laws and court decisions that impact the law enforcement profession. After reviewing the decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS), we will look at the latest changes and additions to the Texas Code that affect law enforcement, administrators, or law enforcement officials. The Criminal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Transport Code have been subject to a large number of revisions, as well as new laws. Although there are fewer of them, there are revisions to the Professional Code and also to other codes. There are also changes in the government code that may affect your use of a personal mobile phone while you are working. OSS Academy® courses are recognized by more peace officer standards and training committees and correctional associations than any other online training provider. Our courses are developed by subject matter experts who are nationally recognized and certified instructors. Many of our experts testify in law enforcement, correction, and defense-related cases related to security in the United States.

Our program meets or exceeds the objective requirements of the state course. For more information, visit OSS – Law Enforcement Advisors® or OSS Academy online or simply contact the OSS Academy Training Coordinator by phone at 281-288-9190 ext. 205 or online at Contact OSS Academy®®®. Please note that the entire course (including all applicable parts of the course), final exams and course evaluation must be completed in order to receive four (4) credit hours. Several bills passed by the 87th Legislature will have an impact on law enforcement in Texas. There have been administrative changes, changes in existing laws and new laws. Texas law enforcement agencies will better serve their communities by raising awareness of changes and additions to state laws while seeking equality in justice and ensuring public safety. Case law, particularly the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS), is incredibly important to the administration of justice. This program will briefly cover recent court decisions that are important to law enforcement, administrators and policy makers.
